Spin closed, open the shells, then stop to close

Hold the central buttons and start the body spinning; the three leaves move outward as whole shells. The maker describes the main feedback as the impact of opening and abrupt closure when stopped. The shells do not expand as a concentric circle. Spring length and magnet combinations change the opening force: the 2024 guidance describes shorter springs as reducing force and impact when magnets stay unchanged. Practice and tuning are part of the experience. The buttons provide the central grip while the body, shells, springs and magnets perform distinct roles.

1 · Hold the central buttons

Grip, rotation and stopping sequence only. The maker design image shows shell forms; this schematic does not model magnets, speed or return paths.

02

Weight, polishing and where materials are used

The maker lists the 2024 steel, titanium and zirconium versions at 112 g, 71 g and 97 g respectively: titanium is lightest and steel is heaviest. The 2025 Tima and Tongma sale batch is polished, with 50 of each announced and less magnetic force than earlier strong-magnet common-material builds. The titanium/cupronickel hybrid has an explicit part split: cupronickel shells and buttons, a titanium-alloy body and strong magnets. This is a specific combination of parts rather than an entirely cupronickel spinner.

An optional tuning fork and documented DIY fit

The official tuning-fork accessory is an optional separate purchase. Its stated roles are to alter shell sound and retain the body screws. The 2024 documentation also lists DIY fit for luminous or tritium tubes, springs, thin centre buttons and decorative beads. Beads sit on the spring-rod tips and use UV glue; the button fit calls for M4 screws and R188 compatibility. Buying the tuning fork and changing DIY parts are separate choices; component records retain their parameters and inclusion scope.

04

Choose weight preference, materials and tuning

If weight matters, begin with the documented steel, titanium and zirconium figures. A strong-magnet label alone does not identify a separate configuration. Consider the Tima or Tongma batch for its special-material appearance, or the hybrid for cupronickel shells paired with a light titanium-alloy body. Also consider whether you want to practise opening, tune springs and magnets and maintain the screws; the maker explicitly says beginners need practice. The tuning fork is optional for players seeking a change in sound or screw retention.
