ABSPatterned panels, custom mixtures and storage-case shells
In these EDC examples, ABS often appears alongside another polymer or glass fibre. The combination and the part matter more than the three-letter label alone.
KAIS combines PMMA and ABS in patterned materials such as Moke, while LAUTIE lists ABS with glass fibre for its custom storage cases. One creates polished patterns; the other forms a protective shell. They are different formulations and applications.
This page keeps mixed materials, external panels, middle plates and linings separate. Colour, a maker-created name and a surface finish describe appearance; they do not replace composition.
The maker describes Moke as a mixture of PMMA and ABS, with random patterns within the same named material.
Moke: PMMA and ABS combine in a patterned material
KAIS says it named Moke for an appearance reminiscent of Chinese ink painting, rather than using an existing generic material name. The source explicitly describes PMMA and ABS mixed through twin-screw extrusion, then polished to reveal the layered appearance.
The maker attributes gloss to PMMA and impact resistance to ABS. That explains its design intention for this custom material, but no published test values turn it into a strength claim for all ABS products. Patterns differ from one POPO to another; a more sparsely patterned, paler group was sold separately as the Guyan version.
The black PEEK POPO in the same article is a different material. Its blasting grades, sound and tactile descriptions belong to the PEEK section, not to Moke.
Lucky Candy: keep panels separate from the middle plate
The KAIS Lucky Candy 2 guide lists the Moke panels as PMMA + ABS with a polished finish. The photograph shows panels, central structure and round details. The material entry applies first to the panels; it does not establish the composition of every part.
The same guide is more specific about Damo Guyan Lucky Candy: ABS + PMMA panels with a black PEI middle plate. This provides an explicit component relationship, but it cannot be applied retrospectively to every photograph in the series.
The source lists PMMA + ABS for the Moke Lucky Candy panels, not for every part visible in the photograph.
Liujin Suiyue: the same material combination with another pattern name
The Liujin Suiyue Lucky Candy panels are also listed as PMMA + ABS with a polished finish. Their orange-and-grey pattern differs from the grey-and-white Moke appearance. A new name or colour does not by itself create a new polymer type.
The weight field in the panel entry does not clarify whether the central structure was included in the measurement, so it is not used here to compare panel weights. A specific version is better identified through its panel name, finish and assembly.
The source identifies the Liujin Suiyue panels as PMMA + ABS. The centre part cannot be assigned a material by colour.
Storage cases: cushioning is another part of the system
LAUTIE lists ABS with glass fibre for its custom protective cases and adds pre-scored foam that can be shaped around the stored objects. The named shell material and the internal cushioning are different parts.
The source mentions an automatic pressure-equalisation valve, but explicitly excludes it from the small size. A series feature therefore cannot be assigned to every size. The maker’s waterproof, shock-resistant and dust-protection claims are not accompanied by ratings or test conditions, so they are not presented as quantified guarantees.
The source describes pre-scored foam as internal cushioning. The photo demonstrates storage, not a protection-rating test.
SP COLOR: a material list and a colour display have different limits
A July 2022 EDC media roundup lists injection moulding and ABS + glass fibre + nylon for GAOEDC SP COLOR. It does not explain the proportions or give a separate formulation for the body and buttons. That list cannot establish the composition of each part.
The same item says the package contains a body and buttons in the same colour; mixed-colour photographs illustrate possible combinations. This is a condition of that release, not evidence of random mixed-colour shipment.
ABS is a material family; mixtures and parts need separate descriptions
ABS stands for acrylonitrile butadiene styrene. The INEOS Styrolution portfolio distinguishes ABS copolymers from ABS/PC and ABS/PA blends, separating the base family, blend partner and specific grade.
The PMMA + ABS, ABS with glass fibre, and ABS + glass fibre + nylon descriptions on this page come from different product sources. They cannot be collapsed into one fixed recipe, nor does the official portfolio establish that any product uses an INEOS grade.
