MATERIAL ATLAS

Carbon QuartzFrom layered sliders and separate plates to flashlight samples

The Carbon Quartz name appears on plain-coloured exteriors, bold bands of colour and individual plates.

The bands on Lishi Candy, the turquoise exterior of Shouxing and the plates on Huben offer different places to look. Alongside the material name, check which part actually uses it.

This page follows each maker’s terminology for its products. Version names, supplier labels and exact composition are separate questions; colour and visible layers alone cannot settle them.

Sky Blue Carbon Quartz Lishi Candy: the maker lists Carbon Quartz, a light polish and a weight of 22 g.

CHAPTER 01

One outline, different directions of colour

A closer look

Diagonal-cut Red/Yellow NTPT Lishi Candy. “Diagonal-cut” is part of the version name; the source lists imported Carbon Quartz (NTPT).

KSEDCstudio’s Lishi Candy catalogue lists Sky Blue Carbon Quartz, Diagonal-cut Red/Yellow NTPT and Cross-cut Black/Red NTPT separately. The sky-blue face is relatively plain, with fine dark lines around its edges. On the red-and-yellow version, bands cross the face grooves; on the black-and-red version, dark layers appear in the grooves and around the edges.

All three entries specify a light polish and 22 g, but their material labels differ. Sky Blue is listed as Carbon Quartz, while the other two are listed as imported Carbon Quartz (NTPT). Keeping those version labels is more precise than grouping them by colour alone. The 22 g figure applies to these three finished-product entries.

CHAPTER 02

Shouxing: a G10 nickname and a separate new version

A closer look

GD calls this Tiffany-blue version Carbon Quartz, distinguishing it from earlier custom G10 in similar colours.

In the second Shouxing update, GD explains that players had nicknamed its custom G10 “Carbon Quartz” since the Fuxing release. This update separately introduces what the maker calls “real (Tiffany blue) Carbon Quartz”. The two names occur in the same announcement, but the earlier G10 versions remain G10.

The photograph shows the turquoise exterior separately from the internal tracks. The source also says that the internal sliding block remains Teflon. A Carbon Quartz version name does not mean that every internal part uses the same material. The exact composition and supplier are not independently established by this product announcement.

CHAPTER 03

Plates and body can use different materials

A closer look

Carbon Quartz plates paired with a zirconium-alloy Huben body. The maker describes this configuration as an auction one-off.

Chima’s Huben accessory update shows Carbon Quartz plates paired with a zirconium-alloy body, describing the Carbon Quartz configuration as an auction one-off. In the photograph, white-and-grey and red patterns are concentrated on the face plates, with dark structural parts still visible around them.

The configuration does not clearly assign Carbon Quartz to individual plate layers, so the confirmed use is limited to the plate combination. The zirconium-alloy body is a separate material choice.

CHAPTER 04

From slider exteriors to flashlight samples

A closer look

The source identifies the left sample as the Tiffany Carbon Quartz version and the right as the Vegasforge Damascus version.

In its 2026 EDC Show preview, AEKnives describes CELL as a flashlight with a new structure. At the time, it had samples in only two materials: a Tiffany Carbon Quartz version and a Vegasforge Damascus version.

The photograph places the two samples side by side. Broad patterns on the turquoise sample follow its facets and grooves, alongside smaller parts with a dark metallic appearance. The announcement does not list those parts’ materials individually or provide a weight or light-output test for CELL. This is a view of the versions and their sample-stage appearance.

CHAPTER 05

Layers in stock offer another scale of observation

Stock detail

White Carbon Quartz stock shown by KSF EDC for the Xiao Sanpang 1.0 material update, before machining into a spinner.

For the Xiao Sanpang 1.0 material update, KSF EDC lists four Carbon Quartz colours: white, red, blue and “Tiffany turquoise”, illustrated with blocks of stock. Parallel black lines are visible along the white block’s side; the turquoise block also shows dark layers.

These photographs record the material before machining, rather than four finished spinners. Layers along a block’s side, patterns on a finished face and colours exposed in grooves offer different views. Photographs alone still cannot establish the reinforcement, resin or supplier.

CHAPTER 06

Read Carbon Quartz and NTPT as specific material labels

This page retains each maker’s Carbon Quartz label for the relevant product, without merging different supply sources into a single recipe. Names such as Carbon Quartz, CarboQuartz and NTPT need to be checked against the particular product and manufacturer’s description.

Richard Mille’s RM 61-01 Ultimate Edition provides one explicitly documented reference. Its official description names Quartz TPT and Carbon TPT separately and describes interlaced layers of the two in the bezel and case back. Its research page identifies North Thin Ply Technology (NTPT) as the producer of these two composites.

That explains the layered naming within a particular TPT material system; it does not establish the composition of every EDC product shown here. For a specific version, start with its material label, the part that uses it and the actual photograph, then check any weight or other specifications recorded for that version.
