From Leap's curved color bands to Shangshangqian's fine layers and a separate storage shell.
G10 gives these EDC designs a varied palette of layers. Fine woven textures appear on the faces, while alternating lines emerge along the sides. A curved outline changes how those layers are revealed. Identifying the exact component helps connect the visible finish with the assembled design.

Glass fabric and epoxy, combined in layers
G10 generally refers to a laminate composite made from glass fabric and epoxy resin. The fabric provides reinforcement, and the resin binds it together. Cloth-like surface texture and colored bands along an edge offer two ways to look at the material.
Material manufacturer Norplex-Micarta describes its NP500A as woven glass fabric combined with epoxy resin and identifies it as a G-10 grade. A separate manufacturer document distinguishes G-10 from FR-4. Those names are not treated as freely interchangeable here, and industrial sheet specifications are not assigned to EDC products with undisclosed suppliers.
The examples below use G10 in different places: Leap's upper and lower bodies, Shangshangqian's body, and a separately sold storage shell from BRAIN. A shared material name does not imply a shared construction.
Color layers follow the curves

Custom layer colors meet a curved outline
ProxyEDC says it selected the color of each layer for this Leap release and laminated the layers to suit the design. In the side-view photo, the color boundaries follow the body's changing contour instead of appearing on only one flat face.
The introduction lists custom G10 upper and lower bodies with an oil-immersion finish. The impact blocks at both ends are sandblasted titanium alloy; inside are a steel inner core and a PEI slider block. The colored body, impact surfaces and sliding components have different materials, so the sound or sliding feel of the assembled product cannot be attributed to G10 alone.
This atlas shows the four standard colorways. The same series also has hidden versions explicitly described as using domestically produced engineered wood. Those are separate from the G10 examples here.
Body layers and inlay lines

A blue-green body around the character inlay
The Shouxing introduction pairs blue and green for the body and specifies custom G10 with unevenly spaced color layers. The front character inlay occupies the center of the elongated outline. The back and sides give a clearer view of the body's own layers and surface texture.
The same article describes the internal slider block as retaining Teflon material. The G10 body and slider block are separate components. Configuration, tracks and adjustment all contribute to feedback; the body's material name alone cannot describe the feel of the complete slider.
This update also introduces a separately labeled carbon-quartz version. The photo here belongs to the G10 passage and shows the blue-green body. The two versions retain their separate names and photographs.
A nickname still needs a version

Fine side layers and a purple-and-black variant
The Zicai update describes a custom G10 body with purple-and-black layers, paired with a vintage-finish cupronickel Cai character inlay. The side-view photograph places several color combinations together, showing fine alternating layers along their outlines.
In the Shouxing article, GD EDC recalls that players had jokingly called its custom G10 carbon quartz, then introduces a separate material option under that name. The nickname does not establish carbon-fiber or quartz content in G10. Identifying a version means returning to its specific material description.
Zicai also retains interchangeable inlays across the series. Changing an inlay can alter the appearance and track pairing; the laminated body remains a separate material component.
G10 can also be a storage shell

Identify the accessory within the release
The Xiaoshe-G launch article lists the G10 storage shell as a separate item. The green shell is the subject of this photo. Its presence in the launch article does not make the Xiaoshe-G toy itself a G10 product.
The toy's material list separately names zirconium alloy, Zircuti inlays and PEEK. Another storage item, described as a stainless-steel middle layer and inner insert, lists stainless steel plus POM. The shell, toy and internal storage parts each have their own boundaries.
This is a launch-stage introduction, and the photograph shows the shell presented at that time. The article provides neither a G10 sheet supplier nor independent performance tests. A translucent appearance alone does not identify the resin formulation.
Care follows the particular finish
This Leap release uses an oil-immersion finish on its G10 bodies. ProxyEDC suggests baby oil to maintain the sheen and a toothbrush to remove surface dirt. That advice belongs to this product; it is not a requirement to oil every G10 item.
When looking at a G10 piece, start with the layers along its edges, then the texture exposed on curves, and finally its inlays, impact blocks and internal parts. Color is immediately visible, while the assembled structure and configuration determine how the product behaves in use.
