A special-material announcement from MACKIE STUDIO presents a hafnium CP3 with colourful metallic surfaces and visible groove patterns. It provides a concrete visual reference, although the exact composition of this edition remains undisclosed.

MACKIE STUDIO presented the hafnium CP3 in an announcement dated 18 January 2022. The maker listed a run of four and said it had sold out at the time. This is a documented historical configuration; present availability requires a separate check.

The original photograph from MACKIE’s hafnium CP3 section shows four separately arranged rounded rectangular forms with coloured surfaces and two groove patterns. It does not establish whether each is a complete product or whether all four limited-edition pieces are pictured.

Read the colour alongside the pattern

The photograph shows elongated, rounded surfaces with lengthwise grooves and nested contours. Blue, purple, yellow and green appear across the edges and patterned areas, creating distinct visual layers.

The maker attributes the colour to heat colouring and describes colour changes with viewing angle. The static photograph shows the visible colours and patterns but cannot demonstrate the full effect described by the maker.

Keep the material designation precise

The section heading calls this a hafnium edition, while the later quantity statement calls it a hafnium-alloy CP3. No purity, alloying constituents or grade are supplied. Hafnium is therefore the topic here, with the exact composition of this production run left unresolved. The announcement also does not identify which individual components use the material.

The Royal Society of Chemistry identifies hafnium as the element Hf and describes the metal as shiny and silvery. This describes the element; it does not establish a pure-hafnium composition for this CP3 edition. The appearance of uncoloured metal, surface colouring and product composition are separate questions.

Which release does the record describe?

The announcement describes a limited edition of four, lists a price of “8888” without specifying a currency, and states that it had already sold out. These are the maker’s statements in the 2022 announcement, not evidence of current stock, resale prices or investment returns.

Earlier in the same article, The Hate Project collaboration is specified with zirconium-alloy outer plates, stainless-steel inner plates and a finished weight of 64.8 g. That is a different configuration. The hafnium section gives neither a finished weight nor an internal-parts material specification, so those details cannot be transferred to it.
