Malachite gives the SODA slider a broad surface for green banding, extending across its biscuit-like face and scalloped edges. Here the stone belongs to the shell, a different use from a small stone button or inlay.

A broad face for the banding
In this photograph, light and dark green bands cross the biscuit-like face and curve through parts of the pattern. Circular recesses and scalloped edges retain the SODA outline while giving the stone a prominent visual role.
This is a reference for the photographed example, not a promise that every malachite SODA will have the same pattern. The image shows visible colour and banding; it does not establish whether the stone was impregnated, dyed or otherwise treated.
The challenge of a thin stone shell
The maker described pronounced banding in this malachite and reported breakage during the machining of SODA’s thin shells. That is an account of a manufacturing difficulty, without a finished-product drop test or a quantified impact-resistance figure.
The material scope stated here is the shell. The sliding mechanism, magnets and joining materials must not all be labelled malachite by association. The two visible shell edges also do not replace a record of the internal construction.
From mineral identity back to the object
Missouri S&T identifies malachite as a green copper carbonate mineral, with the formula Cu₂(CO₃)(OH)₂. This establishes the mineral background, not a composition or treatment test of the photographed product.
The maker’s article discusses treated turquoise earlier, before moving on to malachite and another stone. A treatment described for the neighbouring material must not be transferred to the malachite edition. The available record does not establish this shell’s treatment history.
Look at the edges as well as the pattern
When examining an example, check the edges and the areas around the recesses as well as the banding. The maker’s account of thin-shell machining identifies areas worth looking at; it does not show that a particular finished object will crack.
This guide contains no TRB drop, cleaning-agent or long-term wear tests. Care needs to reflect the object’s treatment, construction and condition. Generic durability claims for metal toys do not establish how this stone shell will perform.
