Niobium MokumeColour across dished buttons, with the material claim kept specific

Niobium mokume rewards a close look at the part it forms. Faith’s Pro buttons carry broad straight bands across a dished surface, with polishing and anodising producing blue, green and purple examples.

Start with the broad bands and dished faces of Pro buttons, then explore the niobium-mokume editions of Phoenix and Godness. The material name alone does not give a complete recipe, and a button option does not identify the material of the spinner around it.

01 / The component

Pro buttons: broad bands across a dished face

Faith lists niobium-mokume buttons separately in its May 2026 announcement for the first Streamline Pro release. They use the Pro deep-dish shape and a coarse straight pattern that the maker describes as 50% niobium. Polishing and anodising are specified, with blue, green or purple colour choices. Broad bands cross the circular dishes in the photograph, around clearly visible mounting holes.

The straight bands describe the pattern; the dish describes the shape; polishing and anodising describe the surface treatment. All contribute to the pictured appearance, but a blue colour is not a niobium percentage and a dished shape is not a material grade.

The same announcement lists stainless steel, titanium alloy, zirconium alloy, straight-pattern Zircuti and Ruifen body options. Niobium mokume is listed separately for the buttons. Fitting those buttons does not turn a body made from another material into niobium mokume.

The 50% claim belongs to this record

Faith gives a niobium percentage for these buttons but does not identify the remaining constituent or constituents, the layer count, or whether the percentage is by mass or volume. The 50% figure is retained with those limits; it is not treated as a universal recipe for niobium mokume.

Nor can the light and coloured bands in a photograph identify individual metals layer by layer. Another niobium-mokume product still needs its own material description. Pure niobium, Mokuti and niobium mokume are not interchangeable simply because their names or colours seem related.

The same material name in other releases

Ele’s May 2024 Phoenix release announcement lists a niobium-mokume version alongside separately listed three-colour copper mokume and fine-wire superconductor versions. It establishes that release record without giving a niobium percentage. Faith’s later 50% button claim should not be transferred to Phoenix.

Faith also includes niobium mokume in the material list for its February 2026 Godness completion record. This concerns a different, three-arm spinner and a completed preorder production run. The article’s photographs show many materials together; a blue or purple example cannot be identified as niobium mokume by colour alone.

Dates matter too. Ele’s June 2024 Diamond announcement places niobium mokume in a “not offered in this release” group. A material appearing in an announcement does not necessarily mean it was sold in that round, or that it is available now.

04 / Reading the configuration

A material name is not a fit specification

The Pro announcement offers two thickness options, written as “17 thick” and “13 thick”, and identifies the design as the Pro deep-dish button. Thickness, dish shape and mounting dimensions need to be checked together. The name niobium-mokume button alone does not establish compatibility with every spinner.

These records do not supply a separate button weight, a general hardness figure or a wear test. The photograph is used to observe pattern and shape, while the maker’s finishing description is not a guarantee of lasting colour or a particular handling feel. Follow the instructions for the specific piece when cleaning or refinishing it.
