TantalumReading colour, purity and the particular edition
Some tantalum EDC spinners combine substantial weight with vivid surface colour. The useful details are the model, its stated purity and the way the colour follows its curves.
Element puts purity and complete-product weight in the release listing. Nautilus · Longji presents its pure-tantalum version through differently coloured finished pieces.
Pure tantalum and tantalum alloy are different material descriptions. Similar names do not make them interchangeable.

Nautilus · Longji: colour across the curves
G-ingEDC’s March 2026 third special-material announcement lists a pure-tantalum Nautilus separately. In the photograph, the curved blades and centre buttons catch different tones within each spinner. Copper-gold, blue-green and purple-red examples show how colour and reflections change across the surfaces.
The announcement states that pattern or colour in this special-material batch was randomly allocated. The three examples show the finishes photographed for that release; they are not fixed colour codes or a promise that every delivered piece will look identical.
The maker compares its weight, smoothness and vividness with other metals as a description of the experience. Those comparisons are not treated as a universal ranking of material performance.
Element: 3N5 and 160 g describe different things
The second Element release photograph corresponds to the listing for 3N5 (99.95%) pure tantalum at 160 g.
Ele’s July 2025 second-batch Element preview specifies “3N5 (99.95%) pure tantalum” and lists 160 g. The photograph also shows Tantalum and 9995 engravings, matching the material description for that release.
The 99.95% figure is the maker’s stated material purity; 160 g is the product weight for the version. These are different kinds of data, and an engraving does not replace an independent composition test.
The same maker also lists a tantalum alloy
Ele’s June 2024 preview of Diamond lists a “tantalum alloy” option, rather than Element’s “3N5 pure tantalum”. These records concern different products and release plans, so their material names should remain separate.
The Diamond article covers regular and special materials, plus OG and Mini sizes, and its material table includes density. It does not give a specific composition grade for the tantalum-alloy option. That table does not establish an exact finished-product weight, and photographs of other material versions do not identify this one.
KillAll also previewed a pure-tantalum Lian in July 2025, explicitly saying that photographs would follow. The superconductor, ruifen, crystallised titanium and Damascus photographs already in that article do not show tantalum.
Material background that helps read the object
The Royal Society of Chemistry identifies tantalum as the element Ta and describes a shiny, silvery metal with corrosion resistance. Its density figure of 16.4 g/cm³ is element-level information, not the weight of a particular spinner.
When comparing pieces, read the stated purity or alloy name alongside the finish and complete-product weight. General industrial material properties do not replace the finished product’s assembly, surface treatment or use instructions.
