WugangSpinner finishes, small balls and a specified cemented-carbide grade
When an EDC description says wugang—the Chinese trade term often translated as “tungsten steel”—first check whether it describes a product edition or a ball only a few millimetres across. A named grade can then tell you more about the material.
Hun Air shows polished and blue-purple finishes. Daqian specifies YG6 for small balls, while THE WAVE Pro provides internal space for an optional ball configuration. These are three different uses of the same broad source term.

Hun Air: one material name, two finishes
The same Hun Air announcement labels this finish “wugang, blue-purple heat colouring”. This describes a surface option, not a new material grade.
Yan EDC's January 2026 Hun Air announcement lists stainless steel, zirconium alloy and wugang separately. The wugang examples show polished and blue-purple heat-coloured finishes. Their silver-grey reflections and blue-purple tones belong to those particular surface options; colour alone does not identify a material.
The release specifies a 55mm spin diameter, 24.5mm button diameter and 13.7mm button thickness, with provision for 6mm balls. A separately sold stainless-steel Hurricane button set in the same article is 14.9mm thick. That figure does not describe the buttons supplied with Hun Air.
The maker states that the body and buttons are CNC-machined but does not disclose the wugang edition's grade or composition. The material name is retained as used by the maker, without relabelling it YG6. The stated ball size also does not identify the ball material.
Daqian: YG6 describes the balls, not the entire object
Jinmu Precision's explanation of Daqian distinguishes YG6 wugang balls from 440C martensitic stainless-steel balls. The grade gives a more specific material clue than wugang alone. It applies to the small balls used in the mechanism, not to every part of the toy.
The same source discusses different hole positions, magnets and contact surfaces, as well as interchangeable PEEK or Teflon middle plates in the accessory pack. These materials and structural choices work together. The entire mechanism's feedback cannot be attributed solely to YG6, and the polymer middle plates are separate materials.
THE WAVE Pro: room for balls is not proof of installation
RYAN's THE WAVE Pro announcement identifies a stainless-steel main body and describes an added inner-shell groove and eight rotor holes that can accommodate 4mm wugang balls. This is an optional configuration. “Can accommodate” should not become a claim that every finished unit is supplied with them installed.
The photographs show the holes and internal space, helping locate the balls within the mechanism. Adjacent components retain their own material descriptions. The 4mm diameter belongs to this configuration, rather than a universal size for other products.

Small parts can be specific to one edition
In one HALO release, 8mm vacuum-coated blue wugang balls accompany only the titanium-Damascus edition. Other material groups use colourful faceted beads. The visible body and its small internal parts therefore differ in material, and the titanium-Damascus edition's ball configuration cannot be extended across the whole range.
The accessory list for SAS's Cunjin slider, Mayan Priest collaboration edition, includes two 3.00mm wugang balls. Brass or copper body material is described separately in the same source. Even small balls remain distinct components; they do not make the complete product a wugang object.
A specified grade makes cemented carbide a firmer identification
Cemented-carbide manufacturer Hongda classifies YG6 in the tungsten-cobalt cemented-carbide family, composed principally of tungsten carbide and cobalt. An explicit YG6 designation therefore provides a route to that material category. It does not belong under stainless steel merely because the Chinese trade term contains the character for steel.
This background cannot supply a missing grade, composition, hardness or magnetic behaviour for every EDC product labelled only wugang. When comparing products, identify the part first and then check whether the maker specifies a grade. Undisclosed composition remains unresolved.
